I have been searching for a Microsoft Excel “expert” to assist me with a spreadsheet that I set up ten years ago to collate all the information on my clients, which number close to 1000.
Over the past decade, I have been populating the same spreadsheet with information from various sources by cutting and pasting and as a result, some of the functions were no longer working properly.
I searched the internet for answers and watched several videos on YouTube without any luck.
I then did a search for “MS Excel experts”.
I found many websites based overseas that claimed to offer a service but require upfront payment by credit card. I didn’t feel comfortable and tried to look for a South African company and I came across three.
The person I contacted, offered to take a look to see if he could help. I sent him the spreadsheet and two days later he still hasn’t responded.
The other company’s phone was simply off.
I then came across an article written by someone by the name of Arnold Muscat. I called him and he answered my call. Despite being at the airport and about to board a plane, he gave me a hearing and asked me to send him an email. I decided not to send the email until I heard back from the first company.
Later that day, Arnold called me saying that he didn’t receive my email and because of his follow-up call, I decided to send the email just before the close of business. The next morning he responded and put me in contact with one of his colleagues by the name of Sid. We did a quick Zoom call and after hearing my problem, he said that he would not be charging me because it is something that he can fix in two minutes. He showed me exactly what to do and the rest is history.
Sometimes, people possess a certain skill set and they can do things others can’t. When people like this share their skills they often do not realise what a profound impact they’re making on someone else’s life or business.
When the problem was resolved, Sid said “It’s nothing” but to me, it made such a major difference in my ability to work in a more efficient way going forward.
I am based in Cape Town and Arnold in Durban. At the time of my call, he hadn’t met me or discussed costs with me. When they realised that my issue was a small and quick one to fix, they decided not to charge despite the fact that they could. The level of professionalism I experienced from Arnold and Sid in terms of customer service and expertise is second to none.
