Our engineers and specialists know the work, but their reports are hard to read. How do we fix that?
Teach them to write for the reader, not for themselves. Technically skilled staff such as engineers, scientists and project managers often produce reports that are accurate but badly structured, too technical for the audience and full of avoidable errors. Technical Writing in the Corporate World from College Africa Group teaches them to plan, organise, write and edit technical documents that communicate clearly and professionally to a business audience.

You need this course if…
- Technical reports take too long to write and too long to read
- Managers and clients struggle to find the key message
- Documents contain grammar, punctuation and structure errors
- Staff are unsure how to write memos, proposals, procedures or long documents
What does the technical writing course cover?
The course is divided into four sections, with case studies and practical exercises throughout:
1. Understanding Technical Writing
Attitudes towards writing, knowing your audience, the writing process and the Five C’s of report writing.
2. Developing the Technical Document
Memos, cover letters, reports, trip and activity reports, brief and extended proposals, procedures and long documents.
3. Editing the Technical Document
Organisation, style and correctness, including the seven deadly errors: pronoun and subject–verb agreement, vague pronouns, dangling modifiers, overuse of the passive voice, and comma and semicolon misuse.
4. The Importance of Technical Writing
Why clear technical writing matters in the corporate world and the opportunities it creates.
