Our project schedules don’t update when things change. Will Microsoft Project training help?
Yes, if your team already owns Microsoft Project but uses it as a drawing tool instead of a scheduling tool. Many project plans still live in Excel lists and emails, with tasks that are not linked, resources nobody can see and reports built by hand. Microsoft Project training from College Africa Group teaches delegates to build schedules that update themselves, track progress against a baseline and report clearly, through two practical one-day courses delivered across South Africa.

Microsoft Project is the desktop application for detailed scheduling, resource planning and project control. It is used for construction and engineering schedules, IT and system implementations, maintenance shutdowns and public-sector programme delivery.

Tell us how your team plans projects today and we will recommend Core, Advanced or both.
Which Microsoft Project course does our team need?
It depends on whether your team is building schedules or controlling them. College Africa Group offers two one-day Microsoft Project courses:
Microsoft Project Core Essentials
For staff who need to set up and schedule projects properly: project information and working time, linking tasks into phases, assigning resources, timelines, deadlines and constraints, reports and sharing. Download the Core Essentials course outline (PDF)
Microsoft Project Advanced Essentials
For staff who need to track and control projects: baselines and interim plans, progress lines, the critical path, resource conflicts and levelling, project costs, resource pools and multiple projects. Download the Advanced Essentials course outline (PDF)
What should delegates know before attending?
Delegates must understand basic project management terms before attending Microsoft Project training. If they don’t, start with our one-day Project Management Fundamentals workshop. Advanced Essentials requires Core Essentials or equivalent experience.
Should we use Microsoft Project or Microsoft Planner?
Use Microsoft Project for detailed schedules with dependencies, resource levelling and cost control on the desktop. Use Microsoft Planner when teams need to share, assign and track work in Microsoft 365. See our Microsoft Planner training, or ask us to help you choose.
Who should attend Microsoft Project training?
- Project managers, coordinators and PMO staff
- Schedulers and planners
- Team leaders responsible for timelines and reporting
- Engineers, IT and operations staff running projects
Can AI replace Microsoft Project?
No. AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT can help with meeting notes, risk lists and project documents, but Microsoft Project remains the tool for scheduling, resource planning and project control.
How is the training delivered?
Training is instructor-led and practical, delivered onsite at your premises anywhere in South Africa or live virtually through Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Delegates receive a course manual and an attendance certificate. Courses run on demand to suit your schedule.
Why College Africa Group?
