Microsoft Planner FAQs
What is Microsoft Planner and what will my team use it for?
Microsoft Planner is the Microsoft 365 tool for planning, assigning and tracking work. In College Africa Group’s Planner training, teams learn to build plans, organise work into buckets, assign tasks, set dates and priorities, and follow progress in Board, Grid, Calendar and Charts views.
What is the difference between basic and premium plans in Planner?
Basic plans cover everyday team task management. Premium plans add project scheduling features such as dependencies, the Timeline, custom fields, goals, sprints and, in the advanced topics, the critical path and baselines. Day 1 of the course covers basic plans and Day 2 covers premium plans, including licensing and how to start a premium trial.
Does Planner work with Microsoft Teams?
Yes. The course shows delegates how to add a plan to a Teams channel, manage notifications and work with guests. It also covers using Planner on a mobile phone.
Does Planner replace Microsoft Project?
Planner’s premium plans bring scheduling features such as dependencies, the Timeline, the critical path and baselines into Planner. Complex or large projects may still suit Microsoft Project. College Africa Group trains both, so talk to us about which fits your team.
Does the Planner course cover Copilot?
Yes. The Advanced course includes using Copilot and the Planner agent, as well as reporting with Excel and Power BI.
Can the Planner course be customised for our organisation?
Yes. College Africa Group can customise corporate training around your own projects and processes. Contact us to discuss your team and where you would like the course delivered.
