This function allows you to create one-cell charts. This is only available in version 2010+. For example, if we want to show the trend in Cell F Six with regard what's the sales, we could highlight them and then go to the Insert tab.

Spark Lines shows you the data range and the location is going to be. Then we can actually copy that down and that shows you got a trend.

When you click back on it, you'll see again that you have the other designs where you can put a few other things, maybe change your column.

But I find that the Line Sparkline works the best. Really good for seeing trends

A question that's often asked is how do we protect a certain range of sales in Excel? I'm going to try and illustrate that to you this morning. In this case,

we want to protect column C so nobody can tamp info or enter any information.
Click on column C, the complete column all the way down. Right click Format Cells.

Go to the Protection tab and tick locked and press okay, go back and right click Format Sales and then tick locked.

You have to do this step first. Then you go to Protect Sales and make sure that Select Lock cells and Select Unlock cells are selected and enter a password.

Do not forget your password as you will not be able to reopen it.

I've used the simple one called Test and okay, so let's go to cell number and you can see I can start entering numbers and I'm going now to you sell seat two.

Try to enter something and it tells me please enter the password and that is how you do that.

Transcript Cross Casting in Accounting & Excel. We always assume that the value, for example, E 10 ten is correct, but we never ever really check it against the corresponding values. So, I always advocate that we should do a simple cross-check to ensure that we are in balance.

I linked the one cell to the formula so we got the total there and then I do an auto sum directly underneath for the other values and subtracted two and they should be zero to prove that we are actually in balance.

I will illustrate by mending one of the formulas in E four to show you that the values are definitely going to be out.

And also illustrated, Microsoft puts a little green corner to illustrate that the formula is not the same as the one nearest to it.

This function allows you to count text and numbers if they meet a certain condition within the specified range.

In this example, we're going to ask the COUNTIF Function to tell us how many times the word Apple appears in the range you start the formula, and because we're going to be looking for text the word apples, we have to put them in a double inverted commas “ “.

Otherwise, the formula will not function. In the next example, we're going to ask CountIF to calculate how many times a product ends with es. In this case, we are going to use the star *, which is equivalent of a Joker and telling us we don't know what it starts with, but they're all finished with es.

In this example, I did not put the double inverted commas to show to you that the formula will not function unless I have because we're putting text within a formula.

We can also calculate formulas via the Function Wizard. When you click on the Function Wizard, you can go and look for your formula type in the account.

If say go and there it will tell you what it's going to do and you can enter the formula this way.

In this case, we're going to look at how often does the value 54 occur within that specified that range. It's already telling you it appears to us it's okay, and it inserts the formula into your spreadsheet.
